Dada Chapel’s Coffee Liqueur Named “Spirit of the Year Belgium 2025”

Bring together two artisans – our very own Cédric Heymans and Charlene De Buysere from WAY Specialty Coffee – both with a deep passion for their craft, and you know the result will be extraordinary. What began as a local experiment in Ghent between Dada Chapel Distillery and WAY is now receiving international recognition.

The coffee liqueur they developed together was not only awarded a gold medal in the liqueur category at the London Spirits Competition but was also crowned ‘Spirit of the Year’ for Belgium.

Roasted and Distilled in Ghent

The coffee liqueur blends the artisanal distillation expertise of Dada Chapel with the natural flavours of WAY Specialty Coffee. Its base is a distinctive coffee from the WAY range: Brazil Bota Fora, a naturally processed single origin with rich chocolate notes and a smooth finish.

Dada Chapel uses its signature potato vodka, made from organic Belgian potatoes. To this, ground Brazilian specialty coffee beans are added and macerated together.

WAY and Dada Chapel worked closely to achieve the perfect infusion. According to the jury, the result is “an elegant and well-balanced coffee liqueur with warm aromas of dark chocolate. On the palate, it reveals a harmonious profile, with a velvety depth of coffee. The finish is rich, flavourful, and offers outstanding value for money.”

Whether enjoyed neat or in cocktails – such as the classic Espresso Martini – the coffee liqueur truly shines.

International Recognition

The London Spirits Competition is among the world’s most prestigious contests for spirits. What sets it apart is that entries are judged not only on quality but also on value for money and packaging – a perspective aligned with how consumers experience drinks.

The jury comprises leading professionals from the beverage world: master blenders, sommeliers, mixologists, and buyers from top hospitality venues. Their combined expertise ensures a thorough and expert evaluation.

With an exceptional score of 96 points, our Ghent-made coffee liqueur stood out from hundreds of entries from over 30 countries. It is now internationally recognized as a benchmark in its category.
