By switching to deposit bottles, we reduce the CO₂ emissions of our packaging by as much as 85%. Instead of disposable bottles, we now use bottles that can be refilled, saving energy and raw materials. With every bottle, we make a positive impact.

Cans are also part of our sustainable packaging choices. Not only are they highly recyclable, but they also help preserve the quality of our beer. Plus, they provide a great canvas for bold designs. And let’s be honest—cans look damn good on a table or bar!

When choosing between bottles and cans, consumer preference was our top priority. Of course, all our beers will still be available on tap. We carefully considered the character of each beer, the drinking occasion, and the type of drinker to create the ideal packaging selection. What hasn’t changed? The great taste and quality of our beers—whether from a bottle, can, or keg.

Our new deposit bottles are a tribute to our history. We’re using the same bottle model as when Brouwerij ’t IJ started in 1985, but with a fresh, modern look. And of course, our iconic ostrich still proudly sits on the label, connecting all our beers and packaging.
